Zen Faith

“The three elements of creativity are thus: loving, knowing, and doing – or heart, mind, and hands – or, as Zen Buddhist teaching has it; great faith, great question, and great courage.” – Eric Maisel

“On life’s journey faith is nourishment, virtuous deeds are a shelter, wisdom is the light by day and right mindfulness is the protection by night. If a man lives a pure life, nothing can destroy him.” – The Buddha

Zen Faith is essential to make even a single pace on The Path of Zen. It is this faith that gets you to even open a Zen book, to even think about Zen, to ponder its meaning.

Faith is tested, that much I know very well. Doubts creep in, second-guessing, questions with no answers, and of course all that you don’t know is like a black hole staring right at you threatening to devour your entire existence. If you are not terrified, then you are not yet on The Path of Zen

Courage comes from faith and it’s that courage that overcomes the doubts and lets you make yet one more pace on The Path.

It does not get any easier, Yet as faith build so does courage, to where the terrifying black hole of not knowing becomes not your nemesis, but is revealed to be your ally.

This is how I walk The path, this is my way.
